The Naif Sower

So Grim wants to start sharing their story, and THEIR version of MY story?  Well, two can play that game and I won’t be spoken for by my coworker.  I am the Naif Sower and I bring births about, I have been ever since the beginning of human’s time.  I remember that first human being birthed from this cute troglodyte couple who won the genetic lottery, thankfully they weren’t scared of the differences that their kid had compared to themselves, like so many of those first evolved babies, many a child did not make it into adulthood during that time of change for the humanoid branch of the apes.

🚼

It was much slower of a job at the beginning, although there was quite a bit of a learning curve.  The other birth and death helpers here in the 777th Dimension that were bringing in and sending out the other hominid species during the evolutionary transition towards homo sapiens being the only hominid species left on Earth, did their best to train me; but there was not the biggest overlap of us seeing each other.  I assume there were more path crossings for Grim during this period, as it is much easier to die together than to be born together, not only with other species, but your own.  If there were hospitals back then, maybe I would  have bumped into more Sowers, but cavefolks were not at that  level of technology that the humans are now, so that did not happen.

🚼

Evolutionary ripe times sound like they were crowded for us but only in comparison to “living” folks only able to conceive of the first four or so dimensions.  The lines of when a species is no longer the same species of their parents is very grey and murky and whoever put me and Grim here definitely drew some pretty arbitrary lines when determining which beings for me to pour life into instead of the Sower of an older species.  We don’t pick that tho, we just show up and do our job, but I won’t say there have been a few babies I thought would be better as earlier hominids and maybe some earlier hominids who would’ve been better as humans.

🚼

My job is not as easy as Grim makes it out to be.  I don’t know why Grim thinks they know what I do, but it’s more than just records keeping and bugging baby bodies for Grim to find when that baby ends up dead.  Being the Beginninger, I have to deal with all the complications of birth and the, I think, wrong sortings of species, even tho I can only shout into the ether that the being that assigns us and sends us wherever, was wrong about a birth or species.  For example, sometimes there are twin/triplet/etc. births where not all the feti make it to the birth breach, which means I miss out on some births I believe should be recorded, and this means Grim hardly even has to do anything or be summoned.  We should be picking when life starts and ends, not this nebulous invisible being we don’t know much of anything about and which doesn’t even give us hints as to why and what is going on.

🚼

Talking of multiple baby births, those used to be the only times multiple species births happen at basically the same time and place.  And, unlike Grim, I hardly ever get to see other species Sowers anymore after the hominid consolidation.  The Neanderthal Sower was the last Sower I’ve seen and that was thousands of years ago, and it was a rough time for all of us hominid 777th Dimension dwellers.  Both the Neanderthal Sower and Reaper were pretty busy at the end with the culling of the big brow ridge babies. While Neanderthal genetics still exist in some of today’s humans, not enough for those 2 to still have a job.

🚼

There was a time when either myself or the Neanderthal Sower could have recorded hybrid births, but it always was an either/or situation, the line of species distinction had already been determined and I was left in the dark as to why.  I did notice, with migration and time, I ended up with more and more jobs and saw the communities of hominids change from bigger browed and bodied beings to the more slender and sentient simians, altho those are generalized characteristics and during the time of hominid consolidation, there were plenty of slim and smart more Neanderthal hominids and plenty of more muscular and cavebrowed human hominids.  This was another time when it seemed the being that put us here to do this job made some very arbitrary decisions and only chose me and Grim to stick around because the Neanderthal Sower and Reaper had been around just a little longer and they should retire.

🚼

I have yet to see a replacement Sower for the next step in hominid evolution, but it seems we’re about half way thru the average length of a hominid species duration.  Grim seems pretty over the gig, but that’s probably just the nature of their being.  With the technological advancements that the humans have been coming up with over the last few hundred years, we may get to be here forever!  Neonatal and child death keeps lowering and life expectancy and lengths keep lengthening, that Grim might be out of a job and I might be the only one working in this dimension, human species wise.  It seems like there’s more reaping of other species, and extinction level reaping, that the humans are winning the birth race, which seems to be the point to me.

🚼

This is where some of my hesitation comes from in not having control over what I consider births and what I think Grim should consider deaths.  Without this ability, I’m worried some new gene will start popping up and some new Homo novus Sower and Reaper will show up and slowly seap into the genetics of MY population and extinct me like my species has done to other species, altho both mostly unknowingly.  I hope that human technology instead augments their biology and makes biological evolution obsolete.

🚼

I’ll be honest and say I’ve been attempting to help humans have more humans.  While they can’t hear or see me in most instances, I’ve come across a few ways to get my messages thru.  The entity who transports me to births has definitely set up a few barriers to communication, but they haven’t seemed to close some loopholes and make updates in how my actions and sounds can sometimes be interpreted. Grim thinks I shouldn’t mess with the ways things are and I should just be content with bringing bouncing babies into being, but I think Grim is just being lazy and wanting less and less work.  With the advent of hospitals, our paths cross a bit more than in past centuries, which mean more nagging from Grim about my attempts to communicate, but it doesn’t seem like Grim nor the entity that moves us can or will stop me.

🚼

If my job is to record births, it makes sense to me that ensuring more happen is a part of my job description.  My ultimate goal is to make it so every human gives birth at least once, this just makes sense and is the reason life is birthed from what I’ve seen for the last few hundred thousand years.  Grim has argued that, if that’s the reason of life, why does Grim exist and shouldn’t Grim try to get rid of humans just as fast as I help birth them?  I think Grim is just being difficult and ignorant of the awesomeness of life but at least I don’t have to deal with Grim too much and how pessimistic and dour they are seemingly all the time.

🚼

Another goal for humans I have is getting them off Earth and onto other planets because the Earth size and pollution is currently cramping the amount of people the planet can support.  This known limitation is making some humans think there is an overpopulation problem and folks are having too many kids but, in my opinion, this is just a reason to get to the moon and populate it and beyond.  Any problem humans have can be solved with more humans, less is not more, more is more.

🚼

Humans have been slowly slowing their birth rates, and many think this is because our medical systems have made it easier for humans to make it thru their childhood, meaning having a large family is no longer necessary to ensure there will continue to be enough humans for replacement rates of the parents who have the kids, but I look at this idea as another laziness induced reason with humans not wanting to parent because it’s hard.  I know Grim has these reservations, but it does make their job easier too, pure laziness.

🚼

After seeing every human, I know what specifications should determine what constitutes a human.  Honestly, some of the creatures I’ve poured life into should not have been given the title human.  Not that I have the ability to look into their futures from when they were birthed, but after seeing the way some of them grow up and are formed by their, my opinion, less than human parents, I don’t know what me and Grim’s creator is thinking.  Grim keeps telling me not to worry about it and just let the way things are be, but I don’t want this species to go extinct letting in such riff raff into the gene pool.

🚼

Folks think evolution is always making life get “better”, more “advanced” and more complex, but honestly, it seems like these scales and progressions are just social constructs attempting to make current life that can contemplate evolution feel like they are at the top of the heap when, really, life evolves randomly and those random changes are only kept around if the individuals with those changes are able to procreate.  These changes don’t even have to be consequential to survival, but if they make living easier, those changes are probably more likely to be passed down.  After seeing small tweaks make it into the human species genetic makeup since I’ve been working with them, I am more than qualified to make the determinations of what is and what is not considered a human trait.

🚼

Recently, I’ve been seeing some changes that I hope will bring about another set of birth and death helpers, but I really hope these evolutionary changes get culled and humans can stay dominant, because having another planetary dominant species living alongside humans at the same time, as it was with humans and Neanderthals without the total domination of the planet, won’t bode well for either species.  I’ve been putting out as much messaging as I can to humans to help make sure humans stick around and don’t go evolving on me and Grim, but both Grim and our creator don’t seem to want this, or at least to help ensure this.

🚼

I hope this shuts Grim up, because I don’t want to keep having to explain myself and why I want to continue existing.  I know both our jobs might seem unpleasant and like something no one would want to keep doing for millions of years, but there really is no more vital and rewarding job for the species, even tho I’m not quite sure if me and Grim are even members of the species.  I’ve heard of the the human conception of angels and even without confirmation from our creator, I figure that we’re something along those lines, and angels are supposed to be doing the good work.  At least I’m an angel, Grim might be a demon with their attitude and occupation.  If this is the end of this back and forth, have a Happy Birthday and hopefully everyday is, for humans, forever!
